Working principle
A process rarely exists in isolation. It is usually a consequence of the organisation around it.
A process may be technically correct while still being unnecessarily complicated because the organisation around it has been designed badly.
Automating that process does not necessarily solve the problem. It may simply make the complexity faster.
Business engineering therefore starts by understanding the wider system in which the process exists, and only then deciding what should change.
